The mission of the New Haven Hip-Hop Conference is to present the multifaceted elements of Hip-Hop culture and its supporters in order to educate students, parents, teachers, performance and visual artists, scholars, and civic leaders on the genre’s myriad social abilities while connecting attendees as resources for each other’s work in the community.
Join us for Hip-Hop Scholarship through a multisensory journey with Hip-Hop 101- an interactive workshop focusing on the elements of Hip-Hop music featuring a live DJ/Turntablist, live graffiti artist, dancers, and emcees, a keynote by Hip-Hop pioneers M-1 and Umi of Dead Prez, lyricist workshop by Alexzander “Showrock” Pullen interdisciplinary and multi-generational panels, a youth panel with Kidz.Next.Dorm Music Label and Ice the Beef Youth, and independent film festival.
